Chapter Awards

Pacific Northwest Chapter Awards:

  • Each year the President’s Award honors a company that has demonstrated strong support for insurance education by encouraging its employees to complete CPCU course work, obtain the CPCU designation, and to be active in the CPCU Society.
  • The Ralph Boden Award was created to honor Ralph Boden's long term commitment to the CPCU Society and its mission of promoting excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education. It is awarded annually to one exemplary volunteer whom the Chapter would like to recognize for going above and beyond in their dedication to the Society.

2020 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Soha & Lang to receive the President's Award for 2020. Soha & Lang has been sponsoring our keynote address for the past several years and spearheaded the formation of the chapter’s DICE committee this year.  Soha & Lang’s Paul Rosner has served as Chapter President, CLEW Interest Group Chair, and is now an Interest Group Governor.  He is on the education, I-Day, and newly formed DICE committees.  Soha & Lang also welcomes two new designees who will be conferring in 2021, Jennifer Dinning and Geoff Bedell.  They have both already become actively involved, with Jennifer co-chairing the DICE committee and Geoff co-chairing the I-Day committee and participating on the education committee.  Soha & Lang has been a key supporter of the Pacific Northwest Chapter and continues to be a strong supporter of the insurance industry and the CPCU, locally and nationally.

The 2020 Ralph Boden Award was presented to immediate past-president Megan Whittemore, CPCU. Megan's extensive involvement with the Chapter has been a spring board for her involvement with various CPCU Society Interest Groups and at multiple CPCU Society conferences. A true CPCU Champion, Megan has worked to increase participation at the local and national level of the Society and recruitment within the industry as a whole. A move in 2019 took Megan to the Portland area where we are jealous they now have access to her passion and experience. 

2019 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Cozen O'Connor to receive the President’s Award for 2019. This firm's Seattle office has been a regular sponsor of the Chapter over the last few years. Investing in the careers of their employees, they have encouraged involvement in the local Chapter, various Interest Groups, and attendance at the big CPCU Society conferences. Thank you, Cozen O'Connor, for helping to great new leaders within our community's insurance industry.

The 2019 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Alicia de Cervantes, CPCU. This board takes great pride in recognizing a fellow current board member for the first time in memory. Alicia's involvement with the Chapter has recently placed her at the helm of every event. Her dedication to CPCU Society extends beyond the Pacific Northwest Chapter - she has represented us within various CPCU Society Interest Groups and at multiple CPCU Society conferences. With a focus on community-based-career, Alicia has a drive to bring technical resources and career development opportunities to the masses. We love your work, Alicia!

2018 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to receive the President’s Award for 2018. Liberty is a consistent high producer of New Designees all over the country, and supports involvement in local Chapters. Also strong proponents of other designations from The Institutes, continuing education is a notably high priority for Liberty and their employees.

The 2018 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Carla Pittman, CPCU. One of our Past Chapter Presidents, for many years Carla has continued to serve the chapter as the Spring Seminar Committee Chair. This is one of our most stellar events every year, and it's success is in no small part due to the grand leadership of Carla. Thank you so much, Carla!

2017 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected State Farm to receive the President’s Award for 2017. State Farm has been a star producer of New Designees and supports involvement in both Chapter and high Society levels. Thank you for what you do to celebrate continuing education.

 

The 2017 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Joe Atwood, CPCU. Joe has served for a number of years as the chair of our I-Day Committee, which is no small job. He has also represented the chapter within Liberty Mutual as a CPCU Society Champion for many years. Thank you so much for your years of service. We wish you the very best in retirement!

2016 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Parker, Smith & Feek, Inc. (website) to receive the President’s Award for 2016. PS&F is recognized for their commitment to industry and culture of continuing education, as evidenced by their multiple active employees on the Chapter board, in committees, and as frequent volutneers.

 

The 2016 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Cathy Heine. CPCU. Cathy, currently the outgoing Treasurer, has held every position in the chapter from Secretary to President, and has continued to serve the Chapter and our community for many years.

2014 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected PEMCO Insurance to receive the President’s Award for 2014. PEMCO employees are very active in our chapter and in the international CPCU society. Through the years, PEMCO has supported the PNW Chapter by providing meeting spaces and other resources.

 

The 2014 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Robin Aronson, J.D. CPCU. Robin has held every position in the chapter from Secretary to President and has continued to serve the Chapter and our community for many years.

2015 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Fournier Insurance Solutions to receive the President’s Award for 2015. Fournier is recognized for creating time and space for multiple employees to become active on the Chapter board and as frequent volutneers.

 

The 2015 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Paul Rosner, J.D. CPCU. Paul is a Past-President of the Chapter and has continued to serve the Chapter, a Society Interest Group, and our community for many years since.

2013 Awards

The Pacific Northwest Chapter selected Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to receive the President’s Award for 2013. Thirty three of our new designees for 2013 are employed by Liberty Mutual. That is more than the number of all other insurance companies in our region combined. Through the years, Liberty Mutual and Safeco employees have been active in our chapter and nationally.

 

The 2013 Ralph Boden Award was presented to Linda Watanabe, CPCU. Linda has held every position in the Chapter from secretary to president and then came back to serve as Treasure for many years. Linda has been the driving force behind I-Day and other events for many years.
